Sam Byfield

Coordinator, Non Communicable Diseases at Nossal Institute for Global Health
Sam Byfield As the Nossal Institute’s non-communicable diseases (NCDs) coordinator, Sam manages projects, builds capacity, undertakes research and provides policy advice relating to NCDs in the Asia Pacific.

Sam previously worked as the Global Advocacy Advisor for Vision 2020 Australia’s Global Consortium where he contributed to establishing blindness prevention as a major priority of Australia's aid program. He was also a member of the Australian Disability and Development Consortium’s Executive Committee for three years, and is committed to doing what he can to improving the lives of people with disabilities.

Sam has worked in public health in China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Papua New Guinea, and has also worked as a researcher on aid and foreign policy for the Australian Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.
His other interests include China’s aid program, and international affairs. He was a delegate at the inaugural Australia China Youth Dialogue in 2010, and a participant in the Lowy Institute’s New Voices seminar in 2013.
