Rod Brazier

First Assistant Director General, East Asia Division, AusAID
Rod Brazier Roderick Brazier was appointed First Assistant Director General, East Asia Division in March 2012. Previously Rod was Assistant Director General for Indonesia and East Timor. From May 2009 until joining AusAID in February 2011 Rod was Senior Analyst, Indonesia, at the Office of National Assessments. Rod was also a senior adviser, on secondment, in the International Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in 2010.

Before joining the APS, Rod worked for The Asia Foundation for more than 10 years (1999-2009) including as Deputy Representative in Indonesia and, finally, as Country Representative in Cambodia (2006-2009).

Rod speaks Indonesian fluently and holds a B.A. (Hons) in Asian Studies from Griffith University and a Masters degree in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Rod is married and has two young children.
